Fresh Tech LLC was started this company at the end of 2021 after our owner made some realizations. Before the pandemic our founder Gregory Beacham owned a holistic wellness company, but when companies stopped booking chair massage and yoga he had to adapt. He always had a love for nature and gardening, so he leaned into that and helped people that were now at home build home gardens. Living in climate zone 7a Gregory knew that the work he was doing would only last through a certain time of the season, so he leaned into teaching yoga and music online. While teaching online classes something clicked, he found himself doing IT Support for clients now forced to use technology they didn’t know much about. It reminded him that he was pretty good with computers and he liked helping people.
He started taking some trainings, earned an IT support certificate from Google, and learned device repair. When he fixed his Playstation 3 that hadn’t worked in years, he knew he was on to something but that wasn’t what sold him on the pursuit. While learning to repair devices he found out about the e-waste problem and realized he had to do something about it. E-waste represents 2% of America’s trash in landfills, but it equals 70% of overall toxic waste. The value of raw materials in e-waste generated by America in 2019 is estimated to be almost $7.5 billion. Estimates suggest 40% of heavy metals in US landfills come from discarded electronics.
The problem is that people don’t generally understand the need to properly dispose of their devices nor do they realize many of their devices can be fixed rather than being tossed aside for another one. The simple truth is that per weight, recycling circuit boards contain more valuable material than mining for ore. Circuit boards have 40 to 800 times more gold than ore and 30 to 40 times more copper than ore. Reusing those precious metals rather than mining for more would mean so much for the health of our planet. We make it easy to get your devices repaired and or recycled whether you’re an individual or a company/organization.
Not only are we committed to the environment at Fresh Tech, we are still in the business of helping people. With all of the devices that are thrown out we are able to recycle components to build reliable devices that are affordable on just about any budget. Statistics
It takes 530 lbs of fossil fuel, 48 lbs of chemicals, and 1.5 tons of water to manufacture one computer and monitor.
In 2014 figures indicate Americans threw out roughly 416,000 cell phones each day. That totals more than 151 million phones in a year.
For every million cell phones recycled, we could recover 35,274 lbs of copper, 772 lbs of silver, 75 lbs of gold, and 33 lbs of palladium.
